Yearbook Cover

My friend (Carmen Tan) and I were approached about designing several pages in the yearbook. We took inspiration from: The 13-Story Treehouse, a novel by Andy Griffiths.
Throughout this design, we included different homages to the events and ongoing within the school. This made the yearbook more interesting and personal for the viewer - especially those who went through that particular school year.
It was interesting to work with perspective drawings and illustrations. In particular, I was responsible for the concept illustration and coloring - while Carmen was responsible for rendering and clean-up.

Mother and Child

This was a project inspired by the idea of masculinity and femininity. The objective was to create a piece which encapsulated your idea of a man/woman. In my mind, women are often belittled because of their maternal instincts. To subvert this trope, I wanted to create a piece that shows the power and protection of mother's love.
The final piece are 12 paintings of a sculpture I created - which explores gesture, form, and color. When the paintings are put together, it is an animation - of the sculpture rotating.

Lavender is inspired by my younger sister. She is a whimsical baker who tends to be so impulsive that she often ignores others and their ideas.
Ultimately, it is her passion for her work that drives her to be impulsive.
