Robot and Elephant: Modelling Project

(2024) Autodesk Maya; Adobe Substance Painter; Zbrush

This is my first 3D modelling project in my first year at Bournemouth University. The assignment required us to create a 3D model of a robot, and sidekick based on AI concept art.

In this assessment, we were marked on our ability to use the required software to create the most accurate design to the final reference.

3D Animation - Volleyball Jump

(2024) Autodesk Maya

This was my first experience animating in 3D, and we had to animate a movement that focused on body dynamics. I chose a volleyball spike approach (as playing volleyball is one of my hobbies).

To start, I had to take a reference video from both the front and side angles - this gave me two points of reference to animate to. Then, I started animating in "step-mode" in Maya, focusing on creating accurate poses in the key frames. From there, I added the breakdowns and the in-betweens - adjusting the splines in the graph to better match the seed and tempo of the movement.

I really enjoyed this project, learning how to animate with rigs on Maya - which ultimately led to me gaining a better understanding of body mechanics and learning how to translate this onto a 3D animation.

Lighting and Look Development:
Night at the Club

(2025) Autodesk Maya, Vray

For my lighting and look development module, we had to create a scene that tells a story using a single image. The main goal was to use lighting to tell the narrative so the viewer can understand with limited information.

The narrative I wanted to tell focused on the idea of jealousy: "a man has feelings for a woman, his friend who he has known and loved for a long time - and tonight, he wants to tell her how he feels and ask her out. They go to this night club and as he comes back from the bar after getting them drinks, he sees her dancing with someone else."

Adaption of "A Haunted House" by Virginia Woolf

(2025) Adobe After Effects, Procreate

For this assignment, I chose to adapt the short story of Virginia Woolf, "A Haunted House". The narrative of this story is love - the love amongst ghosts who haunt the house where their love was at its purest form.

In this assignment, I learned how to write a script that could be adapted it into an animatic (which I created). Finally, I developed a piece of concept art to help visualize the story I wanted to tell.

Plane Crash Composition

(2025) Nuke

In this project, I rendered a scene on Nuke, where a plane makes an emergency landing on a highway. I worked on adding elements to a scene, using roto to track signs that were replaced, and adjusting aspects to make any changes more natural to the scene.

For my first time working on compositing, I quite enjoyed using a node-based system and I got to better understand aspects of post-production.
